Greek red komboloi gift for pappou

A Greek traditional gift. Great worry beads made of red tubular resin beads, black leather cord and silver plated findings. It has 21 beads including metal beads and a central round metal bead that is called PRIEST, with a star on it, Vergina Star. It reaches a total length of 24.5cm.

ABOUT KOMBOLOI.
It is a string of generally odd number of beads (usually 17, 19,21 or 23), with a bead called "a priest" that separated the two threads and help the beads to flow freely and some times there is a tassel too. You can play with it with one hand or with both hands. It is used to pass time. If you have ever been in Greece, you must have seen men play with the Komboloi. Beads dropping one at a time, tapping the bead below, create different rhythms that could be interpreted as a code for different moods.

Worry beads have several uses in Greek culture, including relaxation, enjoyment, and generally passing the time, forgetting the problems and trying to limit smoking. A komboloi made of gemstone beads is often decorative into our houses because it is fragile to play with.
