Those wonderful bracelets have been made of a great significance beads called "Tears Of The Virgin Mary". This is the name that all Orthodox people like us GREEKS use for them. Other's call those beads "Job's tears". The scientific name of the plant is Coix lacryma-jobi. These are home caltivated beads.
It is said that this plant rose under the cross of Jesus Christ from the tears of the Virgin Mary, which fell on the earth. According to our tradition, there is this story that follows:
Once, a monk was sitting sorrowful because he could not learn to knit a prayer rope. Then he was presented the Virgin and asked: "Why are you sorry?". He answered: "I can not learn to knit a prayer rope." Then the Lady gave him the seeds and said: "Take my tears, cultivate and make a prayer rope and pray: "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy upon me, a sinner. Oh Holy Mary save us".
Those beads have a teardrop shape in soft tones of gray-cream. Every bracelet is beaded with those beads, with 4mm faceted crystal beads in various colors and a silver plated cross in a size of 1x0.7cm. The bracelet has a length of 18cm, including clasp but has a 3.5cm extended chain, for length adjustments (total length 21cm).
Because of the natural color of the beads you can wear it all the time with any outfit. It is a religious item that can wear easily and will protect you all the time. You will have our Mother's blessings.
